In my experience, the &quot;assertiveness&quot; you advise, depending on how far it&#039;s taken, can be one of the things that turns people off. The recipient gets to decide whether something&#039;s &quot;the next big thing&quot;--not the person trying to position the story as newsworthy. That&#039;s the stuff that elicits the bad S word: Spin.

The phrase that struck me as not quite what you intended is &quot;Force it viral.&quot; Can&#039;t do it.

Something only goes viral if it takes off organically. If the actual content isn&#039;t of value to others, it won&#039;t spread.

You&#039;re suggesting perfectly legitimate tactics based in networking, but the client&#039;s contacts will need to have a reason to comment, post, tweet, forward, etc.

Build that in, and you may get a final S or two: Satisfaction/Success. :D
